Context

In Senegal Counterpart since 2001 implements among others an integrated school feeding and nutrition project "McGovern-Dole International Food for Education and Child Nutrition" financed by US Department of Agriculture (USDA) named Sukaabe Janngo (Children of Tomorrow) (2018 - 2022) and a complementary project to support local food procurement entitled Transition of Food in School Canteens in Senegal (TACSS). Both projects will be implemented in the Saint-Louis region

Activités principales

  • Regularly review asset and liability accounts, purchase orders, cash flows, accounts payable and, if necessary, any other accounting document
  • Record transactions while ensuring in advance accuracy of cost allocation and completeness of documentation
  • Process invoices and bills
  • Reconcile bank accounts
  • Be involved in the preparation of financial reports
  • Review project budgets, staffing and work plans to guarantee appropriate fees.
  • Guarantee timely reporting, budgeting, financial management and project forecasting
  • Support and facilitate periodic project budget analyses
  • Ensure that purchases and cash management are carried out in accordance with Donor and Counterpart procedures
  • Provide the management team with relevant information on financial management
  • Facilitate the conduct of Audits
  • Perform routine accounting tasks including but not limited to payroll, cash requests, preparation of payments for travel requests and other duties as assigned by the line Manager

    Le profil recherché pour occuper le poste de Accountant

  • Formation : At least Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field
  • Expérience requise : Minimum of five (5) years of experience working with international NGOs. Minimum of five (5) years’ work experience in financial management with experience and knowledge of international donor programs.
  • Compétences techniques

  • Have a good ability to handle conflicting tasks; an ability to prioritize and deliver high quality performance on a regular basis
  • Have a good knowledge of shared cost methodologies in a multi-project environment
  • Demonstrate proven experience with payroll/tax legislations in-country and filling out periodic tax forms
  • Demonstrated knowledge of U.S. Government rules, regulations, policies and procedures.
  • Familiarity with sub-grants management
  • Knowledge of MS Word, Excel and QuickBooks accounting software
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, oral, and written communications skills
  • Demonstrated supervisory and leadership skills
  • Have a good ability to manage relationships with diverse people; an ability to work well alone and in a team environment
  • Fluency French and good knowledge in English are required
